Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
Welcome to the MAPEH 9 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on
( Community and Environmental Health ) !
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators
both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in
helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while
overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration
their needs and circumstances.

According to the World Health Organization. Health is a state of
complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of
disease or infirmity. It lead to the ability to lead a socially and economically
productive life.
Community is defined as a sociological group in a large place sharing
one environment. It therefore includes the individual and the family.
Community also refers to a group of living things ( humans, animals, and
plants ) sharing and living together in an environment.
Environment is the immediate surroundings of the living things. This
lesson will focus on how the community and environment greatly affect the
well-being of the humans living therein. It will provide an understanding of
how the condition of the environment impact the community and the
people. The environment promotes unity among community members. The
emotional environment must enable the people to unite and actively involve
themselves in community-building activities.
Environmental Health focuses on how different environmental factors
affect the well-being of a person. A healthy community and a healthy
environment contributes to the achievement of quality life among its
residents.
Community Health is defined as the art and science of maintaining,
protecting and improving the health of all the members of the community
through organized and sustained community efforts.

Our government believes that a strong nation needs healthy citizenry. In
order to achieve this, the Department of Health promoted community health
with the partnership of community, barangay, government, and nongovernmental organization through the program called Primary Health Care.
