Virtual Class Notes: Science o Matter is everywhere, it is everything that we can see, touch, smell, or feel. 3 different states Solid o Give examples Liquid o Give examples Gas o Give examples Made of particles (atoms) Can we see these particles? (no) Are these particles moving? (yes) Why is there movement important? (it determines the energy an object has and it determines what the matter will look like) o The more the particles move the more energy it they have, the less they move the less energy they have. o What is another form that we see matter in? (Plasma) Watch video o How does plasma compare to the other states of matter? (has no definite shape, has more energy than other states of energy – solids have definite shape and very low energy because the particles move very slowly – liquids have no definite shape and medium energy – gases have no definite shape and high energy but not as high as plasma) o Measuring matter – Watch Video Why does the baseball have more mass than the tennis ball, they look the same size? (tennis ball is empty on inside) o Why is it important to use a standard unit of measurement? The same unit of measurement for everyone?
