Cell Model Project – 7th Grade Life Science
Task: Build a 3-dimensional model of either a plant or animal cell that exhibits all
of its major organelles.
Your project should have the following characteristics:
__________ (30 points) Major organelles exhibited and labeled
ANIMAL- cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria,
endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, lysosome, ribosomes (do not
label), vesicles (do not label)
PLANT- cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria,
endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, chloroplast, central vacuole,
ribosomes (do not label), vesicles (do not label)
___________ (15 points) 3-D nature of each part is shown
___________ (5 points) Must be a typical plant or animal cell
___________ (25 points) A Venn diagram must be provided on a separate
sheet of construction paper comparing and contrasting a plant
and animal cell. Must be accurate and easy to read
___________ (15 points) Overall presentation is accurate and easy to
understand
___________ (10 points) Overall presentation shows creativity of the student
This project is not meant to have you go out and purchase expensive materials to
build your cell. Please use as many inexpensive materials you have at home first.
Edible materials are NOT allowed!!
