Committee: International Labor Organization(General Assembly Third Committee) Topic: Syrian Refugee Crisis Country: Syria Delegate: Jack Ma In these few years, the problem of Syria is becoming serious and serious, western country took action to affect Syria is some ways, more and more EU countries began border control. The number and speed of refugee influx were slightly lower than that of the first two months, but they are still pouring in, and the European Union is seeking common solutions to accommodate and distribute refugees to the Member States. Though a few member states are keen on the implementation of the plan and promote the talks between states, not big progress has been made in the talks. Syria always take the problem of refugee seriously, and hope to solve it. Syria suggests other countries to pen up safety routes to sanctuary for refugees. Here are some suggestions from Syria to solve the problem of Syrian refugee. To begin with, penning up safe routes to sanctuary for refugees is one important solution. That means allowing people to reunite with their relatives, and giving refugees visas so they don’t have to spend their life savings and risk drowning to reach safety. States can stop this by investing in search and rescue operations and immediately helping people in distress. Then, all countries should investigate and prosecute trafficking gangs who exploit refugees and migrants, and put people’s safety above all else. Survivors whom Amnesty met in Southeast Asia said traffickers killed people on board boats when their families couldn’t pay ransoms. Others were thrown overboard and left to drown, or died from because there was no food and water. Governments also need to stop blaming refugees and migrants for economic and social problems, and instead combat all kinds of xenophobia and racial discrimination. Doing otherwise is deeply unfair, stirs up tensions and fear of foreigners, and sometimes leads to violence – even death.
