Dangerous Operations
Section 87 of Factories Act 1948 empowers the State Government to frame the rules which shall be
made applicable to any factory or class of factories where manufacturing process is carried on by which
any person employed therein may have serious risk of bodily injury, poisoning or disease, declaring the
manufacturing process dangerous, prohibiting the employment of women, young or child worker,
providing for special and periodical medical examination, providing for protecting measures, prohibiting
or controlling to use specified material, requiring to provide special welfare amenities to the workers.
Factories Act 1948 and Gujarat Factories Rules 1963 (Section 87 and Rule 102) prescribe for dangerous
operations many safety criteria.
List of Dangerous Operations as prescribed under rule 102 of Gujarat Factories Rules 1963 are as under:
