INSTRUCTION: Write down the correct number before each part base on the given diagram below.
Then write their specific function right after each term (22 PTS)
__8__Labia minora- are a pair of thin cutaneous folds that form part of the vulva, or external female
genitalia. They function as protective structures that surround the clitoris, urinary orifice, and vaginal
orifice.
__2__ovary- make eggs and hormones like estrogen and progesterone. These hormones help girls
develop, and make it possible for a woman to have a baby. The ovaries release an egg as part of a
woman's cycle.
__3__urinary bladder-functions as a reservoir, storing urine and providing continence
_11_uterus- also called womb, an inverted pear-shaped muscular organ of the female reproductive
system, located between the bladder and the rectum. It functions to nourish and house a fertilized egg
until the fetus, or offspring, is ready to be delivered.
__7__labia majora- contain sweat and sebaceous glands, which produce lubricating secretions.
Exclusively sexual function to encourage the woman to engage in sexual intercourse and have babies as
a consequence.
_ 10_ vagina- provides a passageway for blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus during a woman's
monthly period. receives the penis during sexual intercourse and holds the sperm until they pass into
the uterus. provides a passageway for childbirth.
__9__anus- last part of the digestive tract. It is a 2-inch long canal consisting of the pelvic floor muscles
and the two anal sphincters (internal and external). The lining of the upper anus is able to detect rectal
contents. It lets you know whether the contents are liquid, gas or solid.
__4_ pubis symphysis- it stabilizes the anterior pelvis, while allowing a small degree of movement.
Stability is usually defined as the pelvis' ability to allow only physiologic displacements under functional
loads. Normally the symphysis translates in the transverse and sagittal directions, rotates in the frontal
and sagittal planes and moves in vertical direction
__6__urethra- female urethra is a relatively simple tubular structure that has the sole purpose of
conducting urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. It is a short structure without complex
investing structures; thus, it is less prone to intrinsic pathology than the male urethra is.
__1__uterine tube- primary function of the uterine tubes is to transport sperm toward the egg, which is
released by the ovary, and to then allow passage of the fertilized egg back to the uterus for
implantation.
__5__clitoris-responsible for feelings of sexual pleasure when stimulated. Clitoral stimulation is how
they are able to experience an orgasm. It fills with blood and becomes erect These include enhancement
of vaginal blood flow, an increase in vaginal lubrication, an increase in vaginal oxygen and temperature,
and most importantly a change in the position of the cervix, the entrance to the uterus. The clitoral
hood protects this sensitive gland from friction, or constant rubbing, in everyday life.
