MGT1110-SEC3 Assignment no. 001 Score: “McDonald’s Counter Attack” Questions: 1. Do you agree with the current move of McDonalds of trying to reinvent the store to be another Pinoy hang-out for family and kids? - I agree. Filipinos are known for being family oriented; it is a wealth that cannot be exchanged to anything, including money. We consider our family with every single decision we make and that includes decisions on where to eat. Reinventing every store to make it feel as if we walked into our home, that cozy, warm feeling we get inside would make customers more comfortable. Hence boosting sales because more family would come in daily for food, or just plain hang-out after an exhausting week. 2. What about the American image of the brand, would you say is the major disadvantage of McDonalds why they can’t be number one in the Philippines? - I don’t think the American image of the brand is a major disadvantage. In fact, I think it is one of its strengths. Whether we admit it or not, Filipinos are known to yearn for foreign brand. We often patronize products from another country. Although McDonalds is a foreign brand, it has developed its own sense of being a Filipino staple through developing products suiting our taste buds. 3. Develop an advertising and promotion campaign that can build McDonald’s as a new chain for Filipinos. To launch McDonald’s as a new staple fast-food chain for Filipinos, we will launch the “Closer Together” campaign, wherein families are encouraged to bond with their loved ones more. This campaign will be spearheaded by an event held at Ayala Triangle in Makati City. The event will be filled with games and activities where families can spend the day with their loved ones. This event will be for a good cause as it will benefit the Hands on Manila Foundation, which focuses on creating programs for underprivileged families. Filipinos are known for their generosity and extreme love for family, this campaign will surely capture a lot of hearts and will eventually help McDonald’s become a Filipino fast-food staple. 4. Prepare a turnaround plan or a game plan as an aggressive counter attack of McDonald’s against the Red Bee. - The use of social media has been very rampant these days. We look, react, and share to every meme, funny video, or even roasts (criticize severely). McDonald’s can use social media platforms to create a bigger following by posting memes, funny videos, or even to roast its competitors. Also they should launch new food products quarterly so they can satisfy customers who are looking for something new on the menu.
