• Most common cause of swelling in the neck
is……..? And what’s the most common cause
of this swelling………?
TAKING Hx
• Hx of lump; as we discussed before.
• Be ware also:
1- Systemic symptoms: Is there fever, chills and
contact with people with infectious disease >>
Infective cause of swelling.
2- Loss of apetitie/weight, pulmonary symptoms or
GI or skeletal symptoms>> Malignant cause of
swelling
TAKING Hx
3- Head and Neck symptoms:
Pain in mouth? Sore throat? Dysphagia?
Changes in voice? Dyspnea?
Examination
• As we discussed; 6 Students and 3 Teachers go
for CAMPFIRE.
Triangles of the neck

What are branches of Internal carotid artery in the neck?
Where does EJV drain to?
Rote of phrenic nerve?
Relation to Muscles
• What’s the nerve supply of these muscles?
• Relation to muscle during examination of lump?
