Fun & Full Scripture Reading.

Be active to find out the original meaning.
1. God decided to reveal himself and his mission, thru the written word.
2. Each book was written in a specific time and place, to a specific audience.
3. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, and The New Testament in Greek.
4. This is why we need to know… 1) The historical background, 2) The linguistic concern
(language & Genre), and 3) The correlation between books (e.g. Exodus & Deuteronomy /
Luke & Acts).

Be aware of the big picture (C-C-C).
1. “In the Bible, God tells us how he made the world and why we are here. He tells us that his
eternal Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead, and
that, because of this, we can live forever in heaven with him.” (A quote from ESV preface)
2. The statement above shows that “from Creation to Consummation, Jesus Christ is the
center of God’s (saving) mission.” Therefore, we need to read our Bible with this point.
3. With this Christo-telic reading of the Bible, we can see how the mission of God started and
will be completed in Jesus Christ.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End”
(Revelation 22:13)

Be open to the Holy Spirit (Finding the significance).
1. The process of our devotion (Bible study & prayer time):
The written word → The spoken word → The fruit in our lives.
2. To make the process above happen, we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
3. Pray that the Spirit would help you to understand the written word and to discover the
significance of it for today and to continually produce the fruit in your life.
