[Last Name] 1 CPL Franks, Pauk, T. 4/1/2020 Building Resilience within my Element To build resilience in my element I must first understand what resilience is, the Army definition of resilience is “The mental, physical, emotional and behavioral ability to face and cope with adversity, adapt to change, recover, learn and grow from setbacks.” meaning that I, as well as my fellow soldiers need to be able to make a mistake and instead of just getting mad that we messed up, can take and learn from said mistake so that we can know what we did wrong so that we can avoid the same issue as well as teach fellow soldiers what not to do. I will strive to lead by example and teach those under me how and why I made a mistake and then teach them the correct ways to go about that given situation. I will also train my soldiers how to remain physicaly resilient by maintaining their physical training so that they will be able to run faster, farther, and harder so as to keep up with the demands of the Army in any situation we may be given. Soldiers often lose sight of what a certain missions goals are and that could lead to soldiers no paying attention on watch or just not caring about any given task they are told to accomplish which can lead to the mission not being completed to standard, I will strive to have my soldiers mantaining perspective of the task at hand my so that they accomplish the mission to the commanders standards. I will communicate to my soldiers clear concise goals that are eaily maintained and wont be forgotten despite how rought the training or actual mission is. Resilience in the army encurages peak [Last Name] 2 performance in soldiers allowing them to quickly recover from intense and stressful situations in combat as well as in their personal lives. All soldiers are suseptable to problems at home as well as at work, but it is those problems at home which can cause major issues at the comnpany level. I will make sure I am available and open to soldiers who are having personal isues at home so that the unit can maintain its combat readiness. I know from personal experience what problems at home can do to your team, squad or, even your whole company. I will maintain an open but professional chanelle where my soldiers can come to me to ask questions or just get advice that I can offer to them if they are having issues. In conclusion resiliency is a huge part of the basic responseability of leaders to their soldiers and being able to provide and find answers to them is imperretive to make sure that they are prepared to handle anything the army throws at them and are able and prepared to bounce back and get right back into the fight and keep moving forward. I will give more than my fair share of effort in training and maintaining resilence in my unit, so that we are able to complete any mission given to us.
