Title: Bone Structure
Purpose:
Students can:
a. Explain (C2) the structure and shape of bones
b. Explain (C2) the process of bone formation and development
c. Analyzing (C4) factors causing bone growth
d. Conduct (P2) observations of hard bone structure in fresh chicken thigh bones in the
laboratory
Tools and Materials:
a. Tools: Stationery, beaker, petri dishes, knives, tweezers, gloves
b. Ingredients: 15% HCl solution, fresh chicken thigh bone
Procedures:
1. Clean the chicken thigh bone from the remnants of meat attached using a knife / tweezers
2. Observe the state of the chicken thigh bone before soaking with 15% HCl solution, such as:
bone hardness, flexibility, and bone color, then the observations are recorded.
3. Soak the bone in a 15% HCl solution in a petri dish for 30 minutes
4. After 30 minutes, carefully lift the bone from the HCl solution using tongs
5. Write the observations on the observation sheet in the following table:
