The Principles of Design Kirsty Larsen,1-2 Unity As the name implies, unity is a group of elements coming together to work as one team. In unity there there is: repetition in an element which is the use of an element over and over. Simplicity which is the refining of making a design. Harmony is the sameness of an element use in an artwork. Theme and variation is also the ways using to show an element as one design. Proximity is when related elements are placed together. Continuity is the flow of an element from one side of your design to the other. The image is unity because it is harmony. The colours in the image are related: green-red, violet-yellow and orange-blue. This is the repetition of some elements: lines and shapes(square and rectangle) Pattern This also works like the repetition in unity. It is the repetition of elements of design in an artwork.
