Acadian History Timeline The Treaty of Utrecht is signed, allowing Acadians to keep their lands however one of the contingencies (or conditions) for the treaty, was for the French Acadians to sign an unconditional oath of allegiance to Britain. Acadia is established as a colony of New France in Northeastern North America. July 28: British Governor Charles Lawrence ordered the deportation of all Acadians from Nova Scotia who refused to take an oath of allegiance to Britain 1765- Acadians began migrating to the French Louisiana (last remaining French territory)
