Reaction Paper on the Mamasapano Incident
On January 24, 2015, former president Benigno Aquino reported a very saddening news:
44 of the policemen group namely the Special Action Forces or S.A.F. lost their lives protecting
the peace and apprehending the terrorists in Mamasapano, Maguindanao. It is sad knowing the
families they left behind were grieving and acquired a scar that will last a lifetime. It is all because
of those terrorists, with their false practice of power that ruined the lives of the concerned and
disturbed the peace of Mindanao and its people and caused a turmoil to the nationwide peace
which makes our countrymen question the political prowess of the better judgment of the former
president. Albeit the grievance, I admire the Special Action Force for their immeasurable valor.
Even though outnumbered, they showed bravery, patriotism, and executed their duty without
any hesitation. It cannot be denied that this is a loss to the whole armed forces, but I think that
such drastic happenings need to happen if we are to attain collective peace that weighs more
than our selfish desires.
