American and other foreign companies often build factories in developing countries, from Mexico’s
car manufacturing plans to clothing producers in Bangladesh. Think about who benefits and explain
why companies do this and choose an industry to focus on. It can be automotive, textile, chemical,
etc…
Give some examples of companies in the industry that you have chosen that have done this. What
do these companies make specifically? How much do they sell their products for on the market?
How much do the typical workers in the factories making them work?
What are some of the positive effects of this type of outsourcing for individuals? For the developing
country?
What are some of the negative effects of outsourcing for individuals? For the developing country?
Finally, construct an argument. Do you believe this type of outsourcing is ultimately a good thing or a
