Abstract This study investigated the causes of pronunciation errors of Freshmen education students. Findings will help both the Freshmen education students and the the highest average tendency of occurrence thus, will help them give attention to pronunciation and improve it. Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions: (1 )the profile of the students; (2) which of the causes of pronunciation errors has the highest average tendency of occurrence as revealed in the Pronunciation Proficiency Test ; (3) the significant relationship between the profile of the respondents and the causes of pronunciation errors. This study utilized the descriptive- correlation method specifically the survey method to describe the relationship between the profile of the respondents to the causes of pronunciation errors. There were three instruments used in this study which are the audio recorder, the written interview questionnaire and the standardized-modified Pronunciation Proficiency Test. Based on the findings of the study it is concluded that in the profile of the respondents especially their language used at home mostly lies on the Cebuano dialect with the percentage of 67. On the movies that the respondents usually watched, majority prefer the Filipino movies/tv shows with the precentage of 48.3. On the grades of the respondents, grades between five to 85-89 got the highest percentage of 47. The result of which causes of pronunciation error has the highest average tendency of occurrence revealed the Influence of Spelling on Pronunciation. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the respondents’ profile and the causes of pronunciation errors.
