Origin and Importance of Letters Letter - A letter is one person’s written message to another pertaining to some matter of common concern. Styles of Letters Lettering – in art, graphic design and typography, lettering refers to the creation of hand-drawn letters to apply to an object or surface. Originally Alphabets were written entirely in majuscule letters, spaced between well-defined upper and lower bounds. When written quickly with a pen, these tended to turn into rounder and much simpler forms. Traditionally, certain letters were rendered differently according to a set of rules. In particular, those letters that began sentences or nouns were made larger and often written in a distinct script. In typography, letter-spacing, usually called tracking by typographers, refers to a consistent degree of increase of space between letters to affect density in a line or block of text. Different Guidelines and their uses Letter Case – is the distinction between the letters that are in larger upper case and smaller lower case in the written representation of certain languages. Capitalization – is the writing of a word with its first letter in uppercase and the remaining letters in lowercase.
