INEZ CUPCAKES – female, 8. A third grade student. One of KiKi's best friends.
VICTOR MANGO – male, 8. A third grade student. One of KiKi's best friends.
ANNA MACADAMIA – female, 8. A third grade student. Bossy, but secretly afraid.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE – male, 9. A third grade student. One of Anna's minions.
MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM – female, "a lady never tells her age." The kids'
teacher.
SETTING
A spacious area with room to run in the playground at Boris Eggs-Benedict Elementary School.
TIME
A warm day in spring. A day for heroes.
AT RISE:
The playground is empty.
(The school bell rings, announcing the start of recess.)
INEZ CUPCAKES (off stage)
The world once was peaceful, but it has changed! Evil is everywhere because of the Jumbo
Trolls! Who can stop them? The answer: KiKi Pineapple –
(KIKI rushes onto the playground. She wears costume jewelry from her
classroom's collection of dress-up clothes, including a necklace with a crystal. She
strikes a heroic pose.)
– Victor Mango –
(VICTOR rushes onto the playground, wearing a red feather boa from his
classroom's collection. He strikes a heroic pose next to KIKI.)
– and Inez Cupcakes!
(INEZ rushes onto the playground, wearing a man's suit jacket from her
classroom's collection. She strikes a heroic pose on the other side of KIKI.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
We must guard this perfect place from the Jumbo Trolls!
VICTOR MANGO
Where are they?
INEZ CUPCAKES
What do they want?
VICTOR MANGO
How can we stop them?
KIKI PINEAPPLE
That's easy to find out because I'm wearing the Magic Amulet of Elppa Enip! I can ask any
question, and when I look through the amulet it shows me the answers! Where are the Jumbo
Trolls?! What do they want?! How can we stop them?!
(KIKI looks through the crystal on the necklace.)
I see it all! I know the answers!
VICTOR MANGO
Tell us so we can stop them!
INEZ CUPCAKES
Tell us so we can "POW!" and "ZOOM!" and "WHOOSH!" to make the world safe!
KIKI PINEAPPLE
The Jumbo Trolls want to hurt all the animals because if they're gone, the world is done for!
VICTOR MANGO
We must save the animals!

INEZ CUPCAKES
But how?!
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Victor, you're wearing the Scarlet Scarf of Talking to Animals! Find an animal and talk to it!
(VICTOR looks around, and then points.)
INEZ CUPCAKES (pointing to the same place)
A pigeon! There! Talk to it!
VICTOR MANGO
I was going to.
INEZ CUPCAKES
Oh, sorry.
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Stop talking to us and start talking to that pigeon, Victor! The fate of the world is in our hands!
(VICTOR coos like a pigeon.)
Good, good! That's it! You're talking pigeon! What are you asking?
VICTOR MANGO
"How are you?"
INEZ CUPCAKES
And what does it say?
VICTOR MANGO
"Coo."
INEZ CUPCAKES

VICTOR MANGO
It's not my fault you can't speak pigeon!
INEZ CUPCAKES

VICTOR MANGO
It said the Jumbo Trolls are eating all the good food in the world, and the only thing left for the
animals is Brussels sprouts.
INEZ CUPCAKES

Ewww! Ewwwwww!
VICTOR MANGO
With no good food to eat, the animals are leaving to live on another planet.
KIKI PINEAPPLE
No!
VICTOR MANGO
Yes! Saturn!
KIKI PINEAPPLE
We must find all the food we can. If we get enough, the animals may stay on Earth and the
Jumbo Trolls will be stopped!
VICTOR MANGO
I will tell that to the pigeon.
(VICTOR coos.)
(ANNA MACADAMIA and JOSHUA SAUSAGE enter, unseen by the others.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Inez, you're wearing the Zeni Cloak of Flying Far and Fast. We must fly around the world to find
food for the animals!
INEZ CUPCAKES
I'm ready, KiKi! Whoosh, whoosh!
(INEZ grabs KIKI's hands. They run around playground. VICTOR still speaks
with the pigeon.)
ANNA MACADAMIA (to KIKI and INEZ)
What are you doing?
INEZ CUPCAKES (still running with KIKI)
We're saving the animals, Anna!
JOSHUA SAUSAGE (to VICTOR)
You look stupid.
VICTOR MANGO
I'm talking with a pigeon, Joshua.
KIKI PINEAPPLE (still running with INEZ)
You can help, Anna! Put all the food you can find in a pile. The animals must be saved!

ANNA MACADAMIA
The animals are fine. But that ugly old jacket makes you look like a poor person, Inez.
(INEZ stops running.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
It's not a jacket, it's the Zeni Cloak of Flying Far and Fast!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Ugly, old, and it smells like pee.
INEZ CUPCAKES
Ewww! Ewwwwww!
(INEZ takes off the coat and throws it down.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Inez, we're on a mission!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Did KiKi tell you to wear that ugly old coat?
INEZ CUPCAKES (guiltily)
Yes.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
Are you a sissy? Why are you wearing that thing?
VICTOR MANGO
I'm not a sissy!
(VICTOR throws off the boa.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Victor, don't throw away the Scarlet Scarf of Talking to Animals! It's magic!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Who made you wear that dumb thing?
VICTOR MANGO (guiltily)
KiKi.
KIKI PINEAPPLE
We're stopping the evil Jumbo Trolls!

ANNA MACADAMIA
You're running around the playground like kindergarten babies, KiKi Pineapple.
INEZ CUPCAKES (ashamedly)
I don't want to play anymore, KiKi.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
You're talking to pigeons and you look like a sissy.
VICTOR MANGO
I'm not a sissy! I took off the scarf, I'm not a sissy!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Inez and Victor, you need better friends than some weirdo who makes you look weird. You need
friends who are awesome and do awesome things, like me.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
And me.
ANNA MACADAMIA (angrily)
And me.
(ANNA nudges JOSHUA in the side with her elbow.)
(KIKI puts the crystal up to her eye and shrieks.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
It's the evil Jumbo Trolls in disguise! They're using their powers to make you forget all about
being heroes! Resist! Resist!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Jumbo trolls?
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
In disguise?
(ANNA and JOSHUA laugh.)
ANNA MACADAMIA
Come on. Leave the weirdo.
(As they walk past KIKI:)
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
Weirdo.
INEZ and VICTOR (softly)

(They exit.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
But … the Jumbo Trolls are right in front of you. They'll ruin the world! They … they want to
make everything bad. They ruin everything …
(KIKI sits, slumping.)
(MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM enters.)
MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM
KiKi, you should be playing. Where are Inez and Victor?
KIKI PINEAPPLE
They're playing with dumb old Anna Macadamia and Joshua Sausage.
MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM
We do not talk about our classmates like that, do we?
KIKI PINEAPPLE
No, Miss Ella Louella. I'm sorry. I'm just sad.
MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM

She's mean and bossy because she doesn't think anyone will like her if she isn't. She thinks they
will be mean and bossy to her!

(KIKI runs to the group.)
MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM
I was going to say "a friend," but all right.
(MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM watches from a distance.)
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Stop, Anna!
ANNA MACADAMIA
Oh, it's Weirdo KiKi.
KIKI PINEAPPLE
I am weird, and that's okay. But you're sad, Anna, and that isn't.
ANNA MACADAMIA
What?! I'm not sad! Look at me!
KIKI PINEAPPLE
You can make friends other ways, Anna. You don't need to be mean to be happy.
ANNA MACADAMIA
That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. We're going!
JOSHUA SAUSAGE

JOSHUA and VICTOR

ANNA MACADAMIA (starting to cry)
Fine, stay here with Weirdo KiKi. Come on, Inez!
INEZ

ANNA MACADAMIA (holding back tears)
All of you had better come with me or you're never going to make friends!
INEZ CUPCAKES
KiKi is our friend, and you're just a Jumbo Troll.
KIKI PINEAPPLE
No she isn't, Inez. She was just under their power. But I know how to make it better. Here.
(KIKI takes off a ring and hands it to ANNA.)
It's the Magic Ring of Truth. You can have it, Anna. You can fight the Jumbo Trolls. You can
help us save the world. Friends together!
ANNA MACADAMIA
You're wrong, KiKi Pineapple.
(Pause.)
This is the Aimadacam Magic Ring of Truth! The Jumbo Trolls are in for it now!
KIKI PINEAPPLE
Yippee! We're saving the world! Inez, get the Zeni Cloak of Flying Far and Fast! Victor, we
need the Scarlet Scarf of Talking to Animals!
ANNA MACADAMIA
KiKi, that's not a scarf! It's more powerful than that! It's a boa.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE

JOSHUA SAUSAGE

(VICTOR puts the boa on JOSHUA, who moos like a cow, bleats like a sheep,
squeaks like a mouse and roars like a lion.)
VICTOR MANGO
You speak lion?
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
Rowwrrrrrr! That's "Hello, my name is Joshua Sausage" in lion.
VICTOR MANGO
We should share the boa.
JOSHUA SAUSAGE
Rowwrrrrrr! That's lion for, "Hurry, the Jumbo Trolls are getting away!"
KIKI PINEAPPLE (announcing:)
The Jumbo Trolls spread evil wherever they go. But now there is a team that can stop their evil
forever, and make the world good once again!
(Everyone strikes a heroic pose when KIKI calls their name.)
It's Joshua Sausage! Anna Macadamia! Inez Cupcakes! Victor Mango! And KiKi Pineapple!
Ready to save the world, together!
(MISS ELLA LOUELLA SANTA ROSE PLUM also strikes a heroic pose. The
school bell rings, announcing the end of recess.)
