Ritzglas® - Poles & “Shotgun”
Hot Sticks
RITZGLAS poles are manufactured according to approved methods and subjected to severe tests during the manufacturing process and final approval
according to ASTM F711 and IEC60855. The poles are unicellular Polyurethane foam filled, in order to avoid contamination of the inner side of the
pole by moisture and dirt. Every pole is dielectrically tested to 100 kV per 30 cm according to ASTM F711 and labelled with the test date. Testing
should be done on a regular basis to ensure there are no faults on the poles. To ensure the safety of operators using the live line tools, there are
safe approach distances they must adhere to. These approach distances may vary between countries, states, institutions and utilities.

Shotgun Sticks
Shotgun sticks are the basic tool for live line work. They have an eye hook at the end of the stick that is operated by a trigger action, by the operator,
which closes the hook, and clamps the tool or clamp etc. being worked on.
Typical uses for a shotgun stick are:
• Installation and removal of earthing clamps
• Voltage detector operation
• General hook and eye work on live installations
• Special tools for attachment to “shotguns” and the “sundial” adaptor are

RITZGLAS Round Section Hot Sticks are made to guarantee the safety distance and the necessary insulation
during live electrical work. It has a universal fitting brass “rising sun” head, which attaches to the numerous
universal tools that are available. With the correct tool fitted, these hot sticks can be used for:

All-Angle Cog Wrench Round Hot Stick
This stick allows the operator to locate a 1⁄2” drive at an angle, and turn
it, whilst steadying the drive. Wing nuts on either side of the head allow
the angle of the drive head in relation to the handle to be adjusted and
locked over a range of 140º. The hand grip holds the cog in place whilst
the pole is rotated. It is used in hard to get to, or hard to get at places.

Heavy Duty Telescopic Hot Sticks
& Replacement Parts
RITZGLAS Triangular Shaped Hot Sticks are designed to provide the working distance and insulation required
to perform routine jobs on overhead electrical systems. The unit comprises a number of sticks that slide into
each other with integrated locking buttons. They have a number of advantages over round hot sticks:
• Easy to transport
• Resolves the rotating problems found in round hot sticks, but provides the same strength
• Only the number of sections required for the job are extended, giving great flexibility
• Any section can be replaced if it becomes damaged
• Special tools for attachment to telescopic stick “sundial” adaptors e.g. House Service Fuse Puller (HSFP) are
listed on pages V10 to V14
• Test Equipment for attachment to “sundial” adaptors are listed in section H.
The VTT range is supplied with a universal brass fitting “rising sun” head, which attaches to the numerous
universal tools that are available. The VTT range is supplied in an orange bag, and the sticks have a height
measurement and a standard RM4455 disconnect.

Insulated Electrical Access Tower
FOR HIGH VOLTAGE LIVE LINE WORK
The RITZGLAS insulated modular electrical work platform is designed to create a fully insulated
platform that can be used in substation work, giving special access to certain areas.
Create a 1m x 1m or 2m x 2m tower, with a platform size of 1m2 or 1m x 2m or 2m x 2m as shown
in the photograph. The base is mounted on a travelling castor assembly, which allows the platform
to be assembled away from the work site, and to be moved into place. This castor assembly has
“rails” to accommodate uneven surfaces.
• L ightweight and simple and easy to erect, using two people and no tools
• All elements positively interlock and are secured using pins
• The work platform rungs have slip proof surface or a ladder can be used to access the platform
• It can be used in energised environments up to 800kV
• Load capacity of 300kg
• Conforms to standard IEC-60855, ASTM F711
• Access above 3m may require specialised training and procedures. Please check with your local
regulator for these requirements.
How to Build an Electrical Work Platform Tower 1m x 1m

• Assemble the trolley base by standing the castor feet, and attaching the diagonals
(FLV11630-1)
• Optionally assemble the rail system, and stand the trolley in the rails if the ground is rough
(FLV11658-1 & 02)
Tower
• Place two side cross pieces on the base (FLV16241-1)
• Place two frames on opposite side to the side pieces (FLV06052-1)

High Voltage Proximity Detector
The T275HP is a high voltage proximity detector. It has eight voltage detection settings from 240Vac to 275kVac.
The T275HP consists of an internal pick up sensor plate, a sensitivity selector, a visual and a sound annunciator.
With the T275HP, physical contact with electrical conductors is not necessary when testing for live lines.
This tester works by proximity.

The Model J2 Cable Lasher is used to lash a single aerial cable or numerous cables to a supporting strand or to an existing lashed cable with stainless
steel lashing wire. Supplied with a heavy duty water resistant carry case.
