Data Applications

The transmission and collection of data is critical in a power generation facility. The demands placed on the network include stability, performance and flexibility.

Weidmuller offers the most comprehensive solution for data networks in the industry.

• Industrial Ethernet: Full line of switches including copper (RJ45) and fiber optic (SC and ST) ranging from small, 5-port versions to 16-port versions, as well as GigE and PoE versions

• Wireless Connectivity: Connect thousands of

I/O almost instantly, set up self-healing mesh networks, use Ethernet access points to connect your information, or set up a WiFi network

• Industrial Data Connectors: STEADYTEC technology provides the most extensive data connection system available. Includes 10 Gig rated RJ45 connectors, IP67 housings, and fiber optic connectors, all in a modular easy-to-use format

• Design Flexibility: From wired to wireless, copper to fiber, IP20 to IP67, patch cables to bulk cable, Weidmuller provides complete network connectivity.

Field Applications

The environment in the “field” or outside the panel can be the harshest and most abrasive to components and connections. Environmental challenges include weather conditions as well as local factors such as vibration, explosive gases and dust.

Weidmuller solutions enable solid connections for critical “in the field” applications including the delivery of power, signals, and data in harsh environments.

• Heavy Duty Connectors: Weidmuller’s RockStar ® line of rectangular connectors have ratings up to IP68, are corrosion-proof and use a multi-stage sealing process to ensure years of durability.

• Enclosures: Available in stainless steel or mild (painted) steel with full IP66 protection,

NEMA4/4X ratings and UL approvals. Enclosures may be pre-populated with components such as terminal blocks or other DIN-rail assemblies.

• Remote I/O Systems: Connect digital or analog signal connections in the field and reduce cables and wiring. IP67 rated I/O distribution blocks provide an easy way to connect up to 16 sensors.

• Through Panel Adapters: From an extensive line of quality cable glands to Weidmuller modular Cabtite system, creating a solid weather tight connection from inside the cabinet to field devices is flexible and easy.

• Networking Systems • Field Wiring

• Heavy Duty Connectors

• Enclosures

Fossil fuel power generation, particularly coal and gas fired applications, represent a major source of energy for the North

American market. Modern and clean technologies, together with an ample supply of coal and gas, guarantee that this form of power generation will remain an important source for decades to come.

Power plant modernization, upgrades and new installations require a wide range of electrical connectivity and electronics solutions.

Weidmuller’s extensive worldwide experience in the power generation industry enables them to deliver the necessary solutions, engineering and application support.
