Position Description: 10th Grade and IBDP Physics Teacher
School Introduction
In September 2014, Shanghai Qibao High School and the Dwight School launched Shanghai Qibao Dwight High
School, the first non-profit, independent, Chinese-foreign collaborative high school approved by Shanghai Education
Committee as a qualified legal organization. Chinese and international students have the opportunity to attend this
three-year, full-time boarding school in Shanghai for grades 10, 11, and 12.
Shanghai Qibao High School and the Dwight School share long histories as educational leaders and have received
numerous awards in recognition of their innovative and successful networks of schools. Shanghai Qibao was founded
in 1947, became a key high school in 1961, and has operated a network of fourteen schools since 2005. The Dwight
School originated in 1872, has been an authorized IB World School since 1975, and currently has international schools
located in New York, London, Vancouver, and Seoul.
The Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School curriculum integrates an international perspective with four pillars of
Chinese compulsory education, Chinese Language, History, Geography and Politics. Students will have the option to
participate in the Shanghai academic proficiency exams. As is the case with all global Dwight Schools, the school is
currently a candidate to implement the IBDP curriculum. Graduating students are eligible to receive a Dwight School
diploma, a Shanghai Qibao High School joint diploma and an IB diploma (pending authorization by the IBO).
The school currently has 157 students enrolled in 10th grade and will admit another 150 students for the 2015-16
academic year. In future years when the school is at full capacity, Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School intends to
enroll approximately 1,000 students across all three grade levels. The faculty and administration includes highly
qualified Chinese and international teachers. The school benefits extensively from the resources and expertise of both
partners.
The school campus is situated in Qibao Town, Minhang District, Shanghai. Teachers and students have access to a
teaching building with subject classrooms, science laboratories and arts facilities, an administrative building, an
auditorium, a library, multimedia facilities, an indoor gymnasium, an outdoor sports facility, student dormitories and a
dining hall.
