Our Communicator Clintondale Community Schools...It All Starts Here! Millage Vote March 8 Find us on Winter 2016 Voters, Clintondale Community Schools Needs Your Help On March 8, 2016, Clintondale Community Schools will ask the voters to decide two ballot questions regarding Clintondale’s non-homestead operating millage. Currently, the district levies only 16.7643 of Greg Green the 18.00 mills on business and Superintendent non-primary residences in our district. Because this is a millage vote, there are naturally many questions that arise, so please let me help clarify these issues or concerns you may have. Millage Proposal 2 - Enhance the millage to 18.00 mills to allow the district to collect the full amount expected by the state, and this is the amount that all neighboring districts collect. Question one: Will my taxes go up if I vote yes? The answer is NO! This tax only affects businesses and non-single family homeowners. Only if you rent your home as a business, will you see an increase in your taxes. Question two: What does the increased funding mean for Clintondale Community Schools? The increased funding will mean approximately $150,000 in additional revenue for our school district to spend on student programming. Millage Proposal 1 - To renew the current 16.7643 mills which expires in 2017. This will provide our Question three: What will the school district do with the additional district with approximately $2,007,178 of our annual funds? operating budget for the 2016-17 school year. First and foremost is our students. Funds would be available for additional programs such as computer coding, robotics, STEM for K-12, other foreign SCHOOL CALENDAR SECOND SEMESTER - 2016 language classes, after school programs, and much more. The first millage vote to renew the current 16.7643 mills be levied today on business owners/non-primary and non-single family residences (rentals and apartments). The second is to allow the district to collect the additional 1.2357 mills so that Clintondale will be able to collect the full 18.00 mills expected and permitted by the state’s school funding calculations (this is the same level collected by all neighboring districts). If you have any questions regarding either proposal, please visit our website at seatwaitingforyou.com. Have a great rest of the school year. Millage Vote March 8, 2016 A Yes Vote on both proposals means: Non-Homestead Millage Replacement Proposal Means No New Taxes for Homeowners c c c Non-Homestead Operating Millage Proposal Means No New Taxes for Homeowners Funds generated by the millage could be used for things such as: • Increased student achievement by upgrading technology in the classroom • Before and after school tutoring • Improved educational programs and content • Upgrades to our existing playground equipment c Educating Students Today to be Leaders Tomorrow 2 Clintondale Child Care Center Ages: 6 weeks - 5 years of age Location: Clintondale High School Days: Mon.-Fri., year-round/closed for holidays Hours: 6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Day Care/Preschool 8:30 a.m.12:15 p.m. Transportation: No transportation is provided Eligibility: Children 6 weeks through 5 years of age, not attending Kindergarten Fee: Varies with age group.
