Event Overview
Efficient rail transport is an important driver for the progress of
any country. Several companies are benefitting form the new
opportunities emerging in the markets across the continent. The
face of rail Africa is changing from what it was in the past. New
technologies are replacing the old ones, several projects are taking
place for regional development and interconnecting the continent.
It is estimated that the market size for the African rail supply is
expected to double by 2022 and with a relatively stable political
government; there are tremendous international investments taking
place in the African Rail Infrastructure.
The challenges faced by the African rail sector are manifolds- but so
are the rewards. This year the discussions are going to be on how
rail automation will help increase efficiency without compromising
on the safety, the upcoming major rail projects happening across
Africa, overcoming the major competition that the rail industry is
facing from the road transport and the way forward for the African
Rail Industry. The aim of this event is to steer rail reform discussions
which would help Africa witness the ‘Rail Renaissance’.
