Ogden, UT—January 17, 2013— Salomon, a leader in technical design
and innovation in mountain sports, is pleased to introduce its latest
innovation in technical apparel—the Salomon Quest Motion Fit jacket
and pant. This next generation of Hike and Ride ski apparel is designed
to accommodate, adjust and perfectly fit skiers and ski movements as
performed in demanding situations. This is accomplished with
strategically engineered panels, a redesign in patterning and darts in
key areas to keep the fit sleek and clean, while accommodating for
actual ski movements.
In the Quest Motion Fit jacket, engineers adjusted the pattern material
between the shoulders and added darts for an easy reach on steep pole
plants. With proper material and space between the seat area and belt,
skiers can stay low in the charging position more comfortably. This
apparel protects from the harshest weather, yet is lightweight for optimal
skiing and backcountry travel.
Features in the Quest Motion Fit pants include external leg vents, a thigh
pocket, a removable gaiter with suspenders and a hood that fits over a
helmet. The set is lightweight and made with a 3L membrane that is
easily packable without extra weight.

The Salomon S-Lab Exo Jersey and Tight are adapted
to the specific needs of Nordic skiers
Ogden, UT—January 8, 2013—Salomon, a leader in technical
design and innovation in athletic outdoor performance, is proud to
introduce the S-Lab Exo Jersey and S-Lab Exo Tight, new for the
2013-14 season. Featuring ultra-lightweight fabrics with Exo Sensifit
technology, the S-Lab Exo Jersey and Tight are athlete-driven
products adapted to the specific needs of Nordic skiers.
Created in collaboration with some of the world’s top Nordic racers
and product engineers at the Salomon Lab in Annecy, France, the
latest line in elite/training apparel is made from lightweight technical
fabric with welded seams and tailoring to fit a body in motion. Exo
Sensifit is Salomon’s highest level of compression, offering a 20%
increase in postural control, muscle support and skeletal stability,
and an 11% increase in active recovery.
“Salomon has learned a lot about compression and postural support
from trail running,” said Salomon Product Line Manager, Mathieu
Danel. “We adapted this knowledge to the specific movements in
Nordic skiing, with support for back muscles and shoulders, and
improved expansion of the chest to enable breathing.”
The S-Lab Exo jersey provides support for muscles in the back,
shoulder and triceps areas, improving posture for better breathing
and aligning the scapula to maximize efficiency and reduce fatigue.
Taking note of the importance that the motion of the lower body plays in Nordic skiing, the
S-Lab Exo tight provides light support for the quads and lower back muscles, while helping
maintain knee cap alignment. This ensures is the transfer of energy directly into the stride
rather than wasting it on the effort to maintain stability.
