Mission
Incorporated on November 17, 1966, the mission of the Laredo Development
Founda5on is to promote and foster the economic and industrial development of
the Laredo region.
LDF ac5vi5es are structured under four divisions, three opera5ng and one internal:

Small Business Development Division in partnership with Texas A&M
Interna5onal University’s Small Business Development Center
The Industrial A7rac5on Division is responsible for maintaining economic data for
prospects, selec5ng target industries, encouraging new industries to locate in
Laredo/Nuevo Laredo and helping new companies with the site-selec5on process
and start-up opera5ons.
The Special Projects Division is responsible for preparing economic studies and
forecasts, campaigning for needed educa5onal resources and infrastructure
projects and for assis5ng the Border Trade Alliance and other groups in promo5ng
border interests.
The Administra5on Division is responsible for contracts, adhering to strict financial
procedures, annual audits, preparing financial statements, board minutes and staff
reports as well as performing special tasks assigned by the Board. Also responsible
for staff training and maintaining membership in the Interna5onal Economic
Development Council, the Southern Industrial Development Council and the Texas
Industrial Development Council.
In partnership with the Texas A&M Interna5onal University’s Small Business
Development Center, is responsible for opera5ng an SBA-sponsored Small Business
Development Center to provide counseling and management training assistance to
new business ventures and for expanding exis5ng companies, as well as for
opera5ng a Loan Assistance Center to prepare small business loan applica5ons,
especially those requiring SBA loan guarantees.
