Deanery 3 ASSEMBLY REPORT FORM – Spring, 2016-Apr 5, 2016 Deanery #__3_Report Submitted By Marilyn Rottel & Barbara Scherrer Comments on Synod Implementation Michelle Nemer was present. She spoke about the Evangelization & Sunday Mass Booklets and the various aids: bulletin Synod inserts, the forthcoming leadership training, and how to make the Spanish & English articles more comparable and side-by-side. She discussed the latest Archdiocesan Mass Attendance Report. Comments from Parish Reports St. Francis de Sales had a bi-cultural Mercy Sunday with the young people. The parish is slowly meeting with its 2 cluster parishes. St. Patrick’s in Whitewater has had an increase of about 25 families into the parish, and the Spanish Mass is the magnet. There is stability with their priests, and the permanent Spanish Deacon is on staff and paid out of the parish budget. St. Al’s requests that their young confirmands attend some PC Meetings. St. Andrew’s has Bible Study, Book Club, retreats, family movies, and they are in the process of building a gathering space. St. Andrew’s also thinks that we have much to learn from other parishes, both Catholic and non-Catholic, as to how they welcome guests to their parishes. St. Joe’s is very involved in Women’s Prison Ministry at Ellsworth. St. Mary’s, St. Charles, and St. Joe’s are having their 2 nd tri-parish Pastoral Council Meeting soon. They are also having a tri-parish Sunday Mass on July 10th in a downtown park in Burlington followed by fellowship. These 3 parishes had about 80 confirmands this year. There was a tri-parish choir. Comments on Any or All of the New Items No comments on the new deanery changes, except to say that it is very difficult to get one person to come to these meetings, and now we are asking for two. We discussed the Deanery 3 projects to be on display at the November 20 th Mass at the cathedral to celebrate the conclusion of the Year of Mercy. It was agreed that any parishes with materials for display will bring them to our Fall Meeting, October 25th, and we (Marilyn & Barbara) will coordinate everything. The Knights of Columbus were on our agenda to provide us with some information on their various projects, but, at the last minute, we were informed that they would not have anyone to speak with us at our meeting. We were very disappointed. District Issues of Which APC Should be Aware We discussed the electronic apps for phones being developed by the arch. It was decided that we need the parish reps to RSVP to these gatherings to facilitate planning. Catholic Herald has a website, and one can order a subscription on it. Our Fall Meeting will be on October 25th at 6:00 PM at Saint Francis de Sales Parish in Lake Geneva. The same following parishes were not in attendance, and they did not respond: St. Benedict, Fontana; St. Catherine, Sharon; St. Clare, Wind Lake; St. Francis Xavier, Brighton; St. John the Baptist, Paris; St. Mary, Kansasville; St. Robert Bellarmine, Union Grove. St Thomas Aquinas, Waterford, was also absent along with the ACP Rep, Father Gene Doda. Respectfully Submitted, Marilyn Rottel and Barbara Scherrer
