SIMATIC IT Preactor APS
What’s new in SIMATIC IT Preactor 2015
As well as introducing a whole new product range
SIMATIC IT Preactor 2015 see the introduction of new
functionality available to new and existing users of both
our planning and scheduling software products.
SIMATIC IT APS Product Range
recognise that upstream systems might be passing down
orders with a full routing and BoM, order header details
for expansion in Preactor AS or even a mixture of the two.
This is why a new flexible model for handling order
routings has been introduced that can handle any of these
Improved Data Editor
Preactor 2015 sees the introduction of a new interface for
viewing and editing the data held within the system. The
intuitive new data grid allows live addition, removal and
rearranging of the displayed fields to give the user the
power to visualize their data exactly as they want.
Powerful new sorting, filtering and grouping features
which can be applied to any of the available data enhance
the usability further.
Table and Field Designer
Alongside the improvements to the data editor there has
also been the introduction of an embedded table and field
designer. This give the user control over the display name
of their tables and fields and enables them to design
dialogs and set field attributes to fit the way that they
want to use the software. This functionality is all available
from within the Preactor user interface and most changes
can be seen instantly, allowing rapid design
implementation.
SIMATIC IT Preactor AS
Flexible Order Routing Setup
As a system that is commonly interfaced with a variety of
other business systems it is important for Preactor AS to
have flexibility in the required data structure. We
scenarios with no system configuration required. Simply
import the data you need and start scheduling.
SIMATIC IT MES Integration
An out of the box integration with the ACM and
Mechatronics libraries of SIMATIC IT MES gives customers
the advantages of running a scheduling application
alongside MES with none of the overheads of having to
create a bespoke interface. Fully detailed order
information is made available to the Preactor AS system
and once scheduled passed back seamlessly to MES for
execution. The scheduling system is also aware of
deviations from the plan via automatic feedback from
MES, allowing the planner to see and respond to any issue
as they arise.

API access in the Preactor AP product
Flexible Planning Rules
The latest version of Preactor AP is a step change in the
flexibility of the system. Due to the changes that have
been made in moving the planning data into standard
Preactor tables the in-memory data can now be interacted
with via the standard Preactor API. With the addition, that
has also been made, of some new Preactor AP specific
events this allows system implementers to manipulate the
data before, during and after the planning processes. This
means that implementation teams now have greater
power to deliver the Advanced Planning solutions that the
customer requires.
Preactor 2015 sees the introduction of flexible planning
rules in the Preactor AP product. The new functionality
allows the user to determine the criteria that is used for
ranking work when constraining or moving the production
across planning resources and resource groups. This gives
the planner total control over deciding which production
should be moved from its preferred make bucket or
resource when there is an overload of capacity.
Improved Repair Plan and Frozen Stock features
An existing feature with added functionality in the new
version of Preactor AP is the Repair Plan function, which
now can be setup to automate the planning process on
different buckets using the standard AP logic and/or user
defined expressions. Additionally the Frozen Stock
functionality which, as well as retaining its default
behavior from the previous release, has the option to
incorporate bespoke functionality in order to enable it to
more closely represent the users requirements if needed.
System Implementer Features
PESP and PIO distribution tools
Preactor 2015 contains a new feature to aid in the
distribution of new and updated Import\Export(PIO) and
Workflow(PESP) scripts. The functionality allows the
saving to disk of the required scripts that can then be sent
to the customer or, for global solutions, distributed
around an organization. Once received there is a simple
process to load the new script from disk into the database.
In the event that the new script is an update there is the
option to overwrite the existing version or add the new
version with alternate name. This means that the tool can
be used during initial system implementation when
multiple similar scripts are required.
