I/O-Extender expands
MicroSAM connectivity
Powerful, flexible and robust!
For automation and process control,
the transfer and processing of signals
play an essential role. In addition to
serial communication, binary and analog input and output signals like 4 to
20 mA are still important for the integration of process analytic devices.

The I/O Extender (Ex i) expands the
capabilities of the MicroSAM measurement system in a very simple manner.
Each I/O Extender module provides
various binary- and analog signals.

plant
Technical specifications
The I/O-Extender is an universal input
and output module, providing a simple
and economical system solution for the
MicroSAM.
Intrinsically safe and suitable to operate over a wide temperature range,
it can be installed right next to
MicroSAM.
Dimensions (H x W x L) in mm
114 x 35 x 100
Ambient operating temperature
-20 ... +70 °C
Energy consumption
Max. 1.5 W at 24 V or intrinsically-safe 9 V
Power supply
Operation from intrinsically-safe power
supply (≤ 10 V DC/≤ 1 A) or power supply
with increased safety (24 V DC)
Area classification/explosion protection
Use in the Ex areas Zone 1,
Zone 2 and Class I Div 2
Installation
Mounted on DIN rail in an external junction
box
Interfaces per module
Electrical isolation of the analog outputs,
digital inputs and digital outputs
• 4 digital outputs
• 4 digital inputs
• 4 analog outputs (current)
• 2 analog inputs
(choice of current or voltage)
Communication with MicroSAM
Serial bus, intrinsically safe or increased
safety

The I/O Extender can be mounted
inside the junction box of the
MicroSAM gas chromatograph. But it
is also possible to order different standard configurations with Ex-e housing,
which can be equipped with up to
three I/O Extenders (fig. 2).
Delivery is from stock.

Because it’s volume, the MicroSAM
I/O Extender solution is especially suitable for small shelters as well as remote
locations with limited infrastructure.
No maintenance or repair is required.
The device is rail mounted and very
easy to install.
Advantages of the I/O extender at a
glance:
• Expand analyzer I/O capabilities
• Suitable also for electrical hazardous installation
• Economical
• No maintenance
• „Unlimited“ extension, suitable
for the specific needs
• Based on plug and play philosophy easy to exchange
