RGA has become one of the world’s most highly respected reinsurers
About RGA
Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) is a global leader in the life
reinsurance industry, with approximately $2.9 trillion of life reinsurance in force
and assets of more than $40.4 billion. From its world headquarters in St. Louis,
Missouri, U.S.A. and operations in 26 countries, RGA provides clients with expert
solutions in individual life reinsurance, individual living benefits reinsurance, group
reinsurance, health reinsurance, facultative underwriting, product development and
financially motivated reinsurance.
The Role of Reinsurance
Reinsurance is a type of
insurance coverage that an
insurance company, also
known as the ceding company,
purchases from the reinsurer in
order to transfer risk associated
with insurance.
Since its beginning in 1973, RGA has become one of the world’s most highly
respected reinsurers, recognized for its superior risk management expertise,
innovative product design, and dedicated client focus.
The purpose of reinsurance
is to manage and reduce the
financial impact of claims by
spreading risk. The insurance
company is able to avoid large
variations in claims experience
and maintain financial stability.
RGA is also the largest facultative underwriter in North America and a leader
worldwide, with an annual facultative underwriting capacity exceeding 100,000 cases
in the U.S. and more than 300,000 globally.
RGA’s Mission, Vision and Values
Our mission is to enhance our clients’ prosperity by supporting their financial and
risk management capabilities.
In fulfilling this mission, RGA is guided by a single vision that serves as the
foundation for everything we do and supports the development of our products and
services. This vision is to have our clients consider a long-term relationship with
RGA integral to their success. We work together to succeed together.
We realize this vision by never losing sight of our signature strength: most clientfocused life and health reinsurer. We continually build on our reputation as the
most responsive and innovative life and health reinsurer, a reputation that is backed
by multiple awards and international recognition by industry. Our core values —
relationship focus, entrepreneurship, collaboration and integrity — and our collective
commitment to our mission and vision shape the way that we work. We are proud
that our fundamental values make RGA a place where associates can learn and
grow. We strongly believe in promoting teamwork, open communication and
continuous improvement as we move toward our goals.
