SOLERA FINISHES INFO – WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

STANDARD POWDER

COATED PAINTED

COLOR FINISH:

Solera’s standard

Minitex paint is made from environmentally friendly polyester resin and is adequate for exterior exposure.

The polyester resin is flexible, tough and weather resistant with excellent alkali resistance. Paint can also be designed to meet customer requirements

(antimicrobial, natatorium).

The paint in powder form is electrostatically applied by electrically charging the powder and grounding the product being painted.

The powder then flows and cures thermally

(with the application of heat). To create a tough durable and weatherproof resistant protective coating.

Electrostatically applied, thermally cured polyester powder coated paint.

Available in Solera standard colors (STD):

BL – Minitex Black

WH – Minitex White

BZ – Minitex Bronze

SG – Minitex Silver Gray

CLT – Clear Trim (No Paint)

CC – Custom Color (Adder Please consult Solera)

Myriad of colors are available for powder coating.

All custom colors come with an adder fee.

Examples of color options from the RAL color catalogue.

ANB – Antimicrobial Finish

Additive is mixed into paint powder to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and prevent cross-contamination. This is important in hygiene-critical environments such as hospitals, care homes, food production lines, kitchen areas, dental or veterinary practices and schools.

NAT – Natatorium Finish

Pools/Delta Rail: All aluminum surfaces are pretreated and polyester powder coated with 2 mil. thick paint. Optional natatorium rated finishes are chromium pretreated and rated for

1500 hours of salt spray with up to 4 mil thickness polyester powder paint finish.

Exterior/ By the Ocean: Epoxy zinc primer with excellent corrosion resistance. Also resists most salts & alkalis as well as splash, spillage and immersion of aromatic hydrocarbon solvents.

CONCRETE PRECAST

(NO PAINT)

MAINLY USED FOR

BOLLARDS/

PATHWAY LIGHTS:

Concrete bollard shaft consists of reinforced pre-cast concrete.

Minimum 3” OD hollow shaft interior.

Precast concrete tops also available flat or in dome shape.

TZZO – Terrazzo

AET - Acid Etched

BH - Bush Hammered

This article from

Usspec.com explains why it’s important that all exterior concrete products pass ASTM

C672 brine freeze/thaw cycle tests.

“Durability is the ability of concrete to resist weathering action, chemical attack and abrasion while maintaining its desired engineering properties. How durable concrete products need to be depends on the kind of environment they will be exposed to. As cold weather approaches, concepts like freeze-thaw and resistance to de-icing salts become important to understand. When water freezes, it expands 9%. As the water in moist concrete freezes, it produces pressure in the pores of concrete. If this pressure exceeds the tensile strength, the cavity will dilate and rupture. Successive freeze-thaw cycles will then eventually cause expansion and cracking, scaling, and/or crumbling of the concrete.

De-icing chemicals, used for snow and ice removal, can aggravate freeze-thaw deterioration. Therefore, when using cement products, such as patching materials, on concrete roadways it is important that these materials have a strong resistance to the effects of these harsh conditions and chemicals.

ASTM C-672 is the standard test method for Scaling Resistance of Concrete Surface

Exposed to De-icing Chemicals. It covers the determination of the resistance to scaling (local flaking or peeling of a finished concrete surface) of a horizontal concrete surface exposed to freeze-thaw cycles in the presence of de-icing chemicals.

The test is intended for use in evaluating this surface resistance qualitatively by visual examination….”
