Thanks to a combination of highly efficient LEDs and
advanced reflector design, Chalice LED is the first “true”
passive cooled replacement for conventional compact
fluorescent (TC-DEL) downlights up to 2x26W.
•The computer modelled reflector design with breakthrough
texture coating layer improves vertical illuminance
Assumptions: Sample project based on a quantity of 100 fittings, activated during regular office
times (07:00 – 20:00 / 5 days a week), lifetime of the installation is 25 years.
Explanation:
Downlights are traditionally used in many different parts of an office building, such as restrooms,
corridors, circulation areas, waiting rooms and offices. After the installation reaches a certain age,
those downlights can become a huge cost factor due to necessary maintenance works and their
high energy consumption.
At this point, a decision has to be made – maintaining an old, inefficient installation or looking for
effective alternatives.
The sample project is based on the assumption that in an office building 100 2x26 CFL downlights
with magnetic ballast are going to be replaced by two different versions of Chalice LED.

Both versions clearly show that the main cost of an installation is hidden in the running costs,
not in the investment cost.
By keeping the same photometric specification and replacing the existing products one by one,
Chalice LED HF pays back after ~ 2,5 years time, Chalice LED Twist with the replaceable module
after 3,5 years time.
Further savings could be achieved by using Chalice LED with DALI ballasts and eg daylight sensors.
