Surface Backbox
(for 8” speaker)
Description:
Lowell model CB84 is a surface mount backbox for ceiling
or wall installation of an 8" speaker (or paging horn model
LUH-15T). It’s suitable for schools, offices, medical facilities, restaurants, hotels and retail space. The 12.35”
square design with 4” depth is precision-formed from 20gauge steel and features welded seams. The rear is
punched with a universal mounting pattern for installing
to a 4" square, 4" octagon, 2-gang, or 1-gang E.O.Box
(not included). The rear has a .375" hole with grommet
for wire access. Sides include planished knockouts for
1/2” and 3/4” conduit. Front has formed flanges with Uclips to screw mount Lowell grille models JG-8X or SQLK8L (order separately). Includes 1.5” thick acoustic batting.

A&E Specifications:
The surface-mount backbox shall be Lowell Model CB84.
The backbox shall be fabricated of 20-gauge steel and
lined with 1.5" thick acoustic batting. The rear of the backbox shall include provisions to mount to a 4" square, 4"
octagon, 2-gang E.O. box or 1-gang E.O. box (not included). The backbox shall feature a 3/8" dia. hole with
grommet for wire access. Sides shall have knockouts for
1/2 and 3/4 conduit. The backbox shall also have four
mounting holes and 8-32 U-clips at flanged corners to accept a grille. The backbox shall measure 11.5" square x
4" deep and have a white powder epoxy finish.
