Benefits of a Digital Fieldbus
 Self testing instruments that report problems immediately
 Empty pipe, sensor failure
 Multiple process variables with status
 Totalizing, cycle counting, temperature, density
 Network & communication monitoring and statistics
 Signal quality
 Voltages & currents
 Centralized asset management – commissioning and diagnostics
 Engineering units
 Range
 Linearity
 Last calibration date

What is HART?
 Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) is a
communication technology that allows digital information
to be carried on the same wires as a field device 4-20 ma
current loop signal. The HART data consists of additional
process data as well as field device data that can be used
to configure, monitor and maintain the field device:
 Available data:
Device identification – tag, revision info, serial number,
etc.

Flow Metering with EtherNet/IP Support
Promass 83 Coriolis transmitter and Promag 53 product families now includes an
EtherNet/IP communication option. Digital communications rates up to 100 Mbps
 Dual RJ45 ports supports web server and EtherNet/IP network simultaneously, or
daisy chaining function, or internal switch capability
 Compliant to the ODVA EtherNet/IP protocol
 CE marked for non-hazardous area application
 Embedded EDS fileLogix5000 support for easy device configuration on a network
 Faceplate for main measured values, error handling and totalizer control functions
 Integrated Web server for easy Instrument configuration

FDT (Field Device Tool) Group
 FDT goal is to provide customers with better
solutions via open standards
 FDT uses proven Microsoft Windows standards
 FDT is not a new digital bus or protocol
 FDT has no allegiance to any one specific bus
protocol
 FDT is supported by over 70 users and
manufacturers

Device Integration Tools
Add-On Instructions (AOI)
and Faceplates
 Predesigned AOIs provide a twoway exchange of data between
the faceplates and the
ControlLogix controller
 FactoryTalk View SE faceplates
provide visualization of
instruments connected to a 1756
HART module, 1788EN2PAR, or
1788EN2FFR.
