Avnet Electronics Marketing Released 2 of 7 Rev 1.0 10/02/2015 1 Introduction Thank you for your interest in the Avnet development kits and camera modules. Although Avnet has made every effort to ensure the highest possible quality, these kits and associated software are subject to the limitations described in this errata notification. Be aware that any of the optional workarounds requiring physical modifications to the board are done at the User’s own risk, and Avnet is not liable for poorly performed rework. 2 Identifying Affected Modules The modules affected by these errata can be identified by the Revision of the camera module. The revision of the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module can be found on the left side of the PCB board. The affected PCB boards are Revision B, identified as PCB part number “CAM-TOSH1080P-PCB-B” and the BOM Revision Part Number, “REVBxx”, where the ‘xx’ is the revision of the BOM on the module. Avnet Electronics Marketing Released 3 of 7 Rev 1.0 10/02/2015 3 Errata 3.1 Reset Description On the Rev.B PCB for the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module, the camera connector’s reset pin was not connected to the Toshiba TCM3232PB image sensor’s reset pin. As a result, the floating reset signal could trigger intermittently and halt (reset) the image sensor. All Rev.B Toshiba TCM3232PB camera modules have been reworked. Workaround No workaround is needed, since all of the Rev.B Toshiba TCM3232PB camera modules have been reworked. The rework consists of typing RESET_L to VIODD, since it cannot be tied to the CAM_RST pin on the camera connector’s goldfinger. The rework can be identified by a wire located on the bottom right (front side) of the camera module. On Revision C of the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module, the RESET_L net has been connected to the camera connector’s CAM_RST pin, as well as a pull-up to VIODD. Copyright © 2015 Avnet, Inc. Avnet Electronics Marketing Released 4 of 7 Rev 1.0 10/02/2015 3.2 Lens Description The TCM3232PB image sensor has a chief ray angle (CRA) specification of 0 degrees. For optimal results, the lens CRA must match the CRA of the sensor/micro-lens. When a CRA mismatch occurs, the resulting image will exhibit intensity roll-off at the corners, as well as possible color shading that would result in appearance of false colors (color shift). On Revision B of the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module, the following lens and lens holder were used: Lens : Sunex DSL949A-650-F2.0, CRA = 22 degrees Lens holder : Sunex CMT821 Workaround This issue can be resolved by selecting a lens with a matching chief ray angle (CRA). On Revision C of the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module, the following lens and lens holder are used: Lens : Sunex DSL355A-650-F2.8, CRA < 6 degrees Lens holder : Sunex CMT107 Copyright © 2015 Avnet, Inc.
