Error message: “Activation Error Printer not activated, error code -41” Issue: You receive the “Activation Error Printer not activated, error code -41” in Sales. You may additionally get something similar to: “PrintEZ returned: Error loading printer driver Error #1958 Method: printconfline:1842 Disconnect?” or a different activation error. Activation errors include the following (these are mainly messages and not errors because they inform the user what might be wrong in the license activation process): Error Description -20 -21 Name of licensee could not be read (License registry entry not found) Activation code could not be read (Code registry entry not found) -22 Activation code does not correspond to Licensee (wrong combination of Licensee/Code) -30 -40 -41 Timeout, printer has timed out (our PrintEZ or ReportManager app delayed too long) The installed license is not for the OS you are running the product on Trying to activate a new version of the PDF Converter with an activation key of the previous version The “Printer not activated” error usually indicates one of two conditions: 1. The SiriuswarePDF printer was not properly installed by Common Files, or an older version of SiriuswarePDF is installed. 2. When Salesware applications, like PrintEZ, attempt to print to the SiriuswarePDF printer, they open a connection to the printer and submit the Siriusware-specific license key just prior to printing anything (such as confirmation letters). If the license key is accepted, then the printer is “activated” and ready to print. This prevents users from printing to SiriuswarePDF from any other applications (such as Word). If the license key is refused, then the printer remains de-activated and produces this error. Note: If you are getting this error when printing a confirmation letter from Sales, there is an off-chance that the error may be caused by a corrupt MAPI installation. You can eliminate this possibility by test printing from Sales > Tools > Diagnostics > Test PrintEZ. If you continue to get the error, then MAPI is not the problem. Solution: Normally, uninstalling Common Files, ensuring the SiriuswarePDF printer no longer exists (if it does, then manually delete it) and then re-installing the latest Common Files (available from the Siriusware Information Portal) fixes this. If that doesn’t clear up the error, then you might have an older version of PrintEZ (which uses an obsolete Amyuni license key). Double check the version of your PrintEZ, including ensuring you registered the PrintEZ you expect to be using. Contact Siriusware Client Services for help with this process, including modifying the registry, which can be a bit tricky Other things to check: 1. Make sure the Use Enhanced Reporting Engine in SysManager’s Misc Preferences is NOT checked. 2. If you are running Data Execution Prevention, particularly in Windows Server, make sure you add PrintEZ40.exe to the list of DEP exceptions.
