Tasks
- Perform topology studies as well as calculations and
simulations of the converter power parts (all active and
passive components) and systems including interfacing of
components like transformers, motors, MCBs, networks etc.
- Evaluate and design Power Electronic Building Blocks
(PEBBs) as well as suitable converter protection concepts
- Thermal modeling and dynamic thermal simulations of
semiconductors
- Provide specifications for converter transformer, cables,
MCBs and motors
- Implement the insulation coordination and draft electrical
schematics
- Specify, select and qualify passive / active components
- Evaluate and co-operate with subcontractors as well as with
the production and sourcing divisions
- Precalculations of manufacturing costs
- Design and implement phase test stands as well as LV- and

MV-prototypes
- Perform prototype tests and measurements in the laboratory
as well as full type tests and pilot tests on customer sites
- Develop and maintain technical know-how as well as
compile technical documentations
- Participation in pilot commissioning and advanced
troubleshooting
- Consulting for the TSA and ensuring a support regarding
technically demanding product maintenance topics as well as
for 2nd source qualifications
Requirements
- Successful completed studies in Engineering
- Expertise in IGBT, medium voltage converters, power
electronics and system design
- Well versed in component design and control software
- Profound knowledge in drives, asynchronous machines and
power transformers
- Ideally know-how in electronic design and in control SW
algorithms
- Ability to perform feasibility studies independently and to
review documentation as well as measurement reports
- Intercultural competence and a pronounced customer
orientation for a reliable support regarding field problems
