the Superbike weekend at Jerez de la Frontera ended with torres on the podium. Home town hero Jordi torres, who started the race from the second row, had some difficulties braking in race 1 from the first laps, ending up in the middle of the pack and having to settle for a twelfth place finish. In race 2 Jordi got off the line well when the lights went out. Without pushing too hard on a boiling hot track, he maintained a consistent pace looking after his tyres carefully. this was a factor which, from the midrace point on, allowed them to overcome their adversaries until moving into second place for Jordi torres, followed by team mate Leon Haslam.
Jordi torres: “I’m very happy about the result in Race 2.
I really wanted to do well here at home. The team worked perfectly and I gave 100% every time I went out on the track. From about midrace on I had to change my riding style a bit to accommodate tyre wear. With this heat it was very difficult but in free practice we worked on the settings precisely in consideration of this problem. In Race 1 I got off the line well but in the first turn I shifted into neutral and ran on. I tried to recover but I just didn’t have the right feeling with the front brake and I had to settle for collecting some championship points.”

It was not an easy weekend in Jerez for Leandro Mercado, in the eleventh round of the World Superbike Championship. In race 1 the Macna rider made a great start and in the confusion of the first corners, he managed to get inside the group. the Argentinean continued to race into the top ten, catching up to ninth position, but just before getting to half of the race, a sudden drop of the rear tyre performance forced him to reach only the 14th position. In race 2 after a good start, tati was 10th at lap 1, remaining into the same position for most of the race. leandro mercado: “This weekend I worked really hard to try to solve the grip issues I have and the tyre consumption. Race 1 has been really difficult. Before getting to the half of the race the rear tyre had a significant drop, that didn’t allow me to ride at my best. Before Race 2 we did other changes to the bike trying solve the problem and fortunately these permitted me to have a good rhythm and to manage the advantage till the finish line, ending into the top ten. I am happy with this final result, but we need to do more in Magny-Cours next races”.

Kyle Smith rode his Honda bike to fourth place in the tenth round World Supersport championship race at Jerez in Spain. Smith had qualified in fifth place for the 19-lap race at the 4.423km Jerez circuit. He struggled to make an impact in the early stages but, as his fuel load and grip levels decreased, he found he was able to make inroads and match the lap times of the leading riders.
However, Smith ran out of laps, crossing the line 3.5 seconds behind Sofuoglu to retain sixth place in the overall championship standings with two rounds remaining. kyle Smith: “I struggled a bit at the beginning of the race like I have for most of the season. I’m not sure whether it’s bike set-up or the full tank of fuel but I just can’t seem to hold the pace at the beginning of races. But halfway in the pace was really strong and I managed to claw my way back to fourth. I really felt like I had the pace to run with the front two but I just couldn’t make up the gap because of the amount that I’d lost at the beginning of the race.
It’s something to work on for the next round, even though we’ve had the same problem all season. But we’ll see if we can come up with something!”.

the Andalusian weekend began with a shock when Jules
Cluzel crash on Friday in the second free practice session at over 200 km/h, with a consequent fracture to his left tibia and dislocated right shoulder. It was the end of the dream to bring the Supersport World Championship, a achievable result due to the Frenchman results during the 2015 season as Jules took three wins, four second places, five fastest laps and six pole positions. on Sunday the other MV and Macna rider Lorenzo Zanetti reached the podium.
In the race Lorenzo Zanetti, after a poor start and after getting away from Faccani and Smith, settled stably into third place, making up ground on Jacobsen in the final laps, but not enough to make an attack on his second place behind race winner Sofuoglu.
lorenzo zanetti: “I made a mistake at the start which is my weak point. Maybe I need to start taking some courses because my pace was up with the leaders today and if
I hadn’t lost time at the start I would have been able to battle for the win! I hope to reach a better result in next
Magny Cours race”.
