NSF CCLI Grant DUE-0311075, “Hands-On Learning in Engineering” Goals and Objectives • • • • • • • • • • Create a hands-on learning environment that enhances the laboratory experience across the engineering curriculum. Promote collaborative learning and team-oriented problem-solving skills. Build self-confidence. Promote the ability to design and conduct experiments. Augment theoretical engineering courses with related hands-on interactive experimental modules. Integrate research methodologies and advances into the undergraduate curriculum. Broaden the range of teaching styles to meet the needs of a diverse student population who learn in different ways, thereby increasing the retention of all students. Increase the recruitment and participation of under-represented groups. Coordinate throughout the engineering curriculum, via repeated exposure, diverse programming opportunities in both LabVIEW and MATLAB. Produce a more knowledgeable and experienced engineer better suited to handling real-world problems.
