UNIVERSITY OF THE EAST Caloocan COURSE SYLLABUS IN FUNDAMENTALS OF BUSINESS ANALYTICS Second Semester SY 2019-2020 Course Code Course Title Credit Units Pre-requisite(s) BBC 1102 Fundamentals of Business Analytics Lecture 3 Course Code NA Course Title Course Description Business analytics (BA) is the practice of iterative, methodical exploration of an organization's data, with an emphasis on statistical analysis. Business analytics is used by companies committed to data-driven decision-making. This course is designed to provide the students basic techniques of data science, that included prominent algorithms used to mine data (e.g., clustering and association rule mining), and basic statistical modeling (e.g., linear and non-linear regression). The course is targeted towards learners and practitioners who would like to know the practices used and the potential use of data analyses for fact-based business decision-making. Course Objectives The goal of this course is to introduce the main ideas, fundamental concepts, and key algorithms in the fields of data analytics tools, data mining, and machine learning. The course will prepare students to adapt to the big data era, to facilitate them to conduct research in data science, and to be able to apply the introduced algorithms in their own research areas.
