PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The ComEd Smart Ideas® Energy Efficiency Program offers incentives on high-efficiency battery chargers and transformers
that are sold through business products discounts participating dealers.
The intent of business products discounts is to replace standard efficiency technologies with higher efficiency alternatives.

NEMA PREMIUM® EFFICIENCY TRANSFORMERS
Industrial battery chargers are used to charge electrical
vehicles such as forklifts and golf carts. Newer charging
technology can save thousands of kWh and hundreds of
dollars a year in electricity costs per charger.
Upgrading to super high-efficiency NEMA Premium
electrical transformers lowers energy consumption, reduces
wasted energy from transformer losses and significantly
reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
Requirements:
» 3 phase, high frequency battery chargers
Requirements:
» Single or three phase
» 5 year product warranty
» Low voltage (≤ 600V)
» ≥ 92 percent power conversion efficiency
» Dry transformer (air cooled, no oil as coolant)
» ≥ NEMA Premium Efficiency Transformer requirements
at 35 percent load
» Utility-owned transformers
