integrated Secondary Flight Display (iSFD) Description The Meggitt Avionics’ integrated Secondary Flight Display (iSFD) provides the best solution for standby flight information - attitude, altitude and airspeed; replacing two or three electro-mechanical cockpit standby instruments with a single 3ATI display unit. Features All solid state design requiring 28 VDC only LED backlit, color AMLCD display High resolution display (300 x 300 pixels) Large useable screen area, fully anti-aliased The iSFD is a 3ATI cockpit instrument with a high resolution, color active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), with new LED backlight and compatible with the latest AMLCD primary flight displays. Color and formats closely matched to primary displays (2.5million colors) Within the iSFD, solid state sensors and a microprocessor system measure aircraft pitch and bank attitudes and air data. Various display options, including magnetic heading If measured air data is available from an aircraft multifunction probe (MFP) or air data computer (ADC), then the iSFD will receive and process the available digital air data. Static source error correction (SSEC) option If digital magnetic heading data is available e.g. from a Meggitt Avionics Magnetic Heading Sensor (MHS), then the iSFD will also display aircraft magnetic heading. Mounting by standard 3ATI instrument panel clamp or flange bolts Instrument landing system (ILS) deviations can be displayed (glideslope, localizer and backcourse) Extensive built in test (BIT) Brightness control matched to primary displays Excellent reliability Strong attitude performance using proven robust algorithms Accurate and stable air data performance supports RVSM compliance Passive cooling – no internal fans Operation Application of power to the iSFD initiates the attitude alignment process (60 seconds). Barometric pressure is adjusted using the bezel-mounted rotary knob, which if pressed selects “Standard” barometric pressure. Pressing the HP/IN button selects hectapascals or inches of mercury for barometric pressure units. Operation (continued) iSFD Applications The display provides warning of Vmo and Mmo (or Vne) using a red thermometer-style display an by changing the appropriate digits to red. At large pitch angles, some ground (for pitch up) or sky (pitch down) remains visible to provide a ready reference for aircraft attitude. Red warning chevrons appear at pitch angles of forty five degrees. The display is carefully configured to optimize the formats and match with the primary displays so that pilot workload is reduced when using this system to fly the aircraft. commercial transport, fixed wing commercial rotary wing military transport, fixed or variable wing military rotary wing iSFD Benefits designed for digital air data interface pitot-static pressure input option highly efficient LED backlight no ITAR components future-proofing for long service life service-proven robust attitude algorithms short length, low weight and low power Specification Size 3ATI x 8 inches (204 mm) long Weight 4 lbs (1.81 kg) 28 VDC 14W normal operating, 22W cold start (150 foot lamberts display luminance) 18 W normal operating, 26 W cold start (300 foot lamberts display luminance) Power Aircraft system interface ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553B Mounting Standard 3ATI instrument clamp or flange bolt mounting Display Active area Resolution 2.4 x 2.4 inches (61 x 61mm) 300 x 300 pixels Environmental Operating temperature Storage temperature -40° C - +70° C -55° C - +95° C Standards Environmental Hardware Software TSOs Specification subject to change. © Copyright Meggitt Avionics 2008 RTCA/DO-160E DO-254 Level B RTCA/DO-178B Level B C106, C3d, C4c, C6d, C113 Meggitt Avionics 7 Whittle Avenue Segensworth West Fareham Hants PO15 5SH UK Tel: +44 (0) 1489 483300 Fax: +44 (0) 1489 483340 www.meggitt-avionics.co.uk www.meggitt.com
