Job Description:
THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) is a leading independent developer and publisher of
interactive entertainment software worldwide, with net sales in excess of $1 billion.
Based in Los Angeles County, California, the company develops and publishes content
for all viable gaming platforms including home video game consoles such as the
Microsoft Xbox 360™, Nintendo Wii™, Sony PlayStation® 3 and Sony PlayStation® 2;
handheld platforms such as Nintendo’s DS™ and Game Boy® Advance, Sony’s PSP®
(PlayStation®Portable) system, wireless devices and personal computers.
The Manager of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations is responsible for
contributing to the development of strategic corporate communications and investor
relations programs. A key part of this role is building and maintaining excellent
relationships between the company and financial media as well as Wall Street investors
and analysts. This position will report to the Vice President of Investor Relations and
Corporate Communications.
Corporate Communications:
Assist in the development of coherent communications strategy across all THQ
constituencies, with a focus on reinforcing corporate vision and business strategies.
Identify drivers of corporate reputation and promote THQ’s corporate brand to key
constituencies. Act as dedicated resource for corporate communications, financial media
relations and crisis communications. Act as a liaison with internal marketing groups to
ensure integration of marketing and corporate communications efforts.
Investor Relations:
Help create and maintain relationships between THQ and the investment community.
Support quarterly results reporting process, including development of news release, script
and Q&A for the quarterly conference call with analysts/investors. Assist in the
management of the investor relations presentation, annual report and content of the
corporate website.
Specific Responsibilities:
Corporate Communications
ƒ Create and maintain corporate messaging materials and update quarterly.
Disseminate to all executives, marketing and public relations professionals
worldwide
ƒ Create news announcement, Q&A and media strategy for corporate events such as
acquisitions, executive management hires and changes, etc.
ƒ Maintain product and business announcement schedule
ƒ Review all company news releases to ensure that they are supporting corporate
vision and strategy
ƒ Review studio job descriptions and external developer releases on THQ projects
to ensure coordination with corporate communications and to capture synergies
from marketing efforts
ƒ Create and edit corporate external corporate communications materials, such as:
o Corporate profile and timeline
ƒ
ƒ
o Executive biographies
o Corporate web content
o Studio profiles
Conduct financial media outreach, which includes:
o Target and develop relationships with key influencers
o Act as corporate spokesperson
o Field in-bound inquiries and determine response/spokesperson
o Prepare executive spokespersons for financial media interviews
o Conduct background interviews to educate media about THQ
o Manage semi-annual financial media tours for key executives
o Identify key sell-side analysts as advocates/spokespersons
Conduct annual perception study of financial media
Investor Relations
ƒ Manage THQ financial media and executive presentations at annual E3 tradeshow
ƒ Assist with quarterly financial results release and script
ƒ Assist with investor relations presentations
ƒ Staff investor conference presentations/meetings and road show meetings with
CEO and or CFO
ƒ Field incoming investor and analyst inquiries
ƒ Monitor sell-side analyst reports for factual accuracy and identify major
communications themes on the sector
Requirements:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in business or communications disciplines, with at
least 3-5 years of financial media relations and/or investor relations.
Strong writing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of financial
statements, a firm understanding of business strategy and the ability to effectively
communicate and work with internal and external audiences.
Team player with demonstrated leadership abilities.
Analytical thinking and the abilility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Experience with media, entertainment, technology companies a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
About 10-20% travel required.
