MINERAL INSULATED CABLE (MI) OVERALL
Mineral insulated heating cable comprises an inner resistive
conductor of Copper, Cupro-nickel or Nichrome, surrounded by
compacted mineral insulation powder with an outer sheath of
Copper, Cupro-nickel or Stainless Steel.
A braided joint is fitted to each end of the heating cable length
connecting the cold lead (1m) to the heating cable.
The cable can be easily bent and formed to vessel contours.
Usage
Heating circuits can be fitted to tank and vessel surfaces using
a stainless steel punched strip spot welded at intervals to the
tank surface and into which the cable is clipped.
Alternative methods of fixing are with glass tape, tension
banding and spot welding using thin stainless steel strip.
