TÜV SÜD Czech s.r.o.
TÜV SÜD Czech is a Notified Body as defined in the Machine Directive and recognized by the
European Commission (NB 1017).
Mobile work platforms (MEWPs), cranes, hoists and other lifting and manipulation equipment are subject of certification following the Machine Directive 98/37/EC and declaration
of conformity (DoC) is required for all hoists and cranes prior to commissioning.
Conformity is confirmed by affixing the CE marking. Responsibility for this process rests with
the manufacturer or his/her authorized representative established within the EU. In special
cases, responsibility may, however, also rest with the operator, for example, if machines are
assembled.

Technical file comprises at least:
• an overall drawing of the machinery together with drawings of the control circuits,
• full detailed drawings, accompanied by any calculation notes, test results, etc., required to
check the conformity of the machinery with the essential health and safety requirements,
• a description of methods adopted to eliminate hazards presented by the machinery and
a list of standards used,
• a copy of the instructions for the machinery,
• for series manufacture, the internal measures that will be implemented to ensure that
the machinery remains in conformity with the provisions of the Directive.

a) Functional Safety
The functional safety according to IEC 61508 represents an internationally valid safety standard for such equipment, in which safety functions are fulfilled by electrical, electronic, and
programmable electronic systems. In other words, it deals with that part of safety depending
on correct function of devices and control systems, which ensure their safety. The correct application of the functional safety standard aims to lower the potential risk of personal injuries,
damage to production or disturbance of environment.
Definition of Safety Integrity Level (SIL):
•
•
•
•
SIL1: not more than one dangerous safety function failure per 10 years
SIL2: not more than one dangerous safety function failure per 100 years
SIL3: not more than one dangerous safety function failure per 1000 years
SIL4: not more than one dangerous safety function failure per 10000 years
b) Management System Certifications
• ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification (QMS)
• ISO 3834 Welding Certification
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification (EMS)
