WESTINGHOUSE PLASMA GASIFICATION For Fuel Oil Replacement Providing energy independence by displacing high cost fossil fuels with high quality Syngas Westinghouse Plasma Gasification has Significant Commercial Advantages WESTINGHOUSE PLASMA CORP. The Westinghouse Plasma Minimal feedstock preparation High reliability • • Operates in rugged industrial applications • Over 500,000 hours and 20 years of Typically a pre-sorting of recyclables and a one stage shredding of the material industrial use on the plasma torches Gasification technology is Handles a wide range of feed compositions commercially proven and • High moisture content Low emissions and waste by-products capable of processing a • High inert content • variety of waste materials to • Blend any number of solid or liquid syngas. Syngas is a versatile natural gas • feedstock’s generate a commodity grade • • increases project economics replace fossil fuels and Vitrified Slag is inert/non-leaching and is being used as a construction aggregate Ability to blend feedstocks reduces project feedstock risk and significantly product that can be used to Syngas, after cleanup, burns clean like Low Greenhouse Gas Footprint when compared to alternative methods of creating power generate power. Alter NRG is your key partner in Fuel Replacement CLEANUP via Plasma Gasification of Waste materials. We provide a scalable solution capable SYNGAS of replacing anywhere from 50,000 bbls/yr of fuel oil to over a million bbls/yr per WASTE Plasma Torches facility. With today’s price of oil over $100.00 per barrel Air or Oxygen Slag & Recovered Metals there is no better time to secure energy independence. Westinghouse Plasma Corp. Diverse Gasification Portfolio provides a complete design Standard platforms Engineering services build solution for the fuel P5 • Feasibility Study replacement market. Our • Replaces up to 50,000 bbls/yr of fossil fuel • Design Basis Memorandum (DBM) project scope is designed to • 30 to 100 tpd of Waste • Process Design Package (PDP) minimize execution risk and • Replaces up to 5 MW electrical provide the best possible solutions and service for our customers. From detailed facility engineering to the start-up and commissioning of your facility, Westinghouse Plasma Corp. is with you every step of the way. W 15 • Replaces up to 150,000 bbls/yr of fossil fuel • 100 to 290 tpd of Waste • Replaces up to 15 MW electrical G 65 • Replaces up to 650,000 bbls/yr of fossil fuel • 450 to 1000 tpd of Waste • Replaces up to 50 MW electrical Scope of supply • Feed System • Plasma gasification reactor • Plasma torch systems • Slag solidification system • Initial syngas cooling & cleaning • Syngas Cleaning Systems • Boiler Modifications (performed by partner COEN) WESTINGHOUSE PLASMA’S FUEL REPLACEMENT SOLUTION In the refueling configuration, the Westinghouse plasma gasifier will process waste materials and create a commodity grade clean syngas. This syngas is then co-fired in the existing boiler through a modification of the boiler system. The syngas will likely represent less than 25% of the total fuel being delivered to the power station. By controlling the amount of syngas as a percentage of the total delivered fuel, the facility will benefit from the significant economic and environmental attributes of the syngas while maintaining the original performance of the boiler. Refueling has many advantages, including: • Create Energy Independence • Create an environmentally sustainable in country waste management solution • Reduced reliance on expensive and volatile fossil fuel imports • Improve the CO2 footprint of power generation facilities by reducing the amount of fuel oil • Existing infrastructure can be used without major capital cost upgrades Westinghouse Plasma’s Fuel Replacement Solution Existing configuration FUEL OIL BOILER Refueling configuration FUEL OIL STEAM MODIFIED BOILER FEED STOCK Industrial Waste STEAM SYNGAS Municipal Waste Waste Biomass Hazardous Waste Tires etc. Air or Oxygen Plasma Torches Slag & Recovered Metals Westinghouse Plasma’s Fuel Replacement Solution Provides Significant Economic Returns Customer: Project: Date: TBD Fuel Replacement June, 2012 Overview Project Type Plant Capacity (st/d) Fuel Replacement 1,000 1xG-65 Max: 1,000 st/d 13.79 MJ/kg 5,927 Btu/lb • Divert 1,000 tpd of Waste and create up to 650,000 bbls/yr of Replacement Fuel / yr Feedstock Combined Feedstock calorific Value All dollar amounts are in USD Outputs ** st/d = short tons per day (1 st=2000 pounds) Net Syngas from Gasifier HHV (MMBtu/year) *** Economics assumed at $30 tipping fees Total US barrels Replaced per Year 3,600,000 580,000 - 650,000 **** Disclaimer: All information contained in this worksheet is for scoping purposes only and considered confidential.
