Welcome
As part of its Centenary Celebrations,
the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
(CIArb) is planning a series of events
including conferences in the UK and
overseas, a Centenary Book and the
creation of a Centenary Fund to finance
future research in the field of ADR. In
addition to this, the 37 branches of
CIArb around the world will be
organising their own Centenary events.
This flagship Centenary Conference will
explore the opportunities for
international arbitration and dispute
resolution for the next century. This is
an unprecedented opportunity for you
to increase your visibility to key
industry decision-makers, strengthen
and build new business relationships
and interact with the experts and
users in the field of ADR.
2
The Principles
The centrepiece of this flagship Centenary Conference will be the launch of
‘The Principles’, a set of guidelines to identify an efficient, effective, economical,
ethical and therefore safe ‘Seat’ for the resolution of international commercial

governments, organisations and experts dealing with arbitration and leading
arbitral institutions from around the world.
