SPVM Science Investigatory Project (SIP) Competition The SIP Competition is part of the 18th SPVM National Conference at Silliman University, Dumaguete City on October 20-22, 2016. This activity aims to increase the level of awareness and promote science consciousness among our high school students. The subject areas in the SIP competition include physics, chemistry and biology. The competition is open to all junior and senior high schools from public and private schools with completed projects for the last three (3) years. All SIP participants are encouraged to submit one-page abstract and should pre-register at the website (http://physics.msuiit.edu.ph/spvm). The deadline of one-page abstract submission is on September 10, 2016. From the submitted abstracts, a short list will be provided by the screening committee to determine the oral and poster SIP presentors during the conference. All accepted SIP entries will be notified on October 5, 2016. There will be two categories in the competition: life science and physical science by individual or group entries. Judging Criteria The oral and poster presentations will be judged according to the following criteria: l l l l l l Knowledge gained in the project Scientific Method or engineering Goals Creativity Thoroughness and impact to the Society Accuracy of conclusions Quality of oral and visual presentations Presentation Guideline Oral presentation is allotted for 10 minutes with a power point presentation containing the following items: l l l l Brief introduction of the project, motivation and the identified problem of the study Summary of Methodology Results and Conclusion Recommendation All winners will be awarded during the closing ceremonies of the conference on October 22, 2016.
