4Rs of learning
For each topic we will be focusing on a key learning skill. In this topic our key skill
will be Reciprocity.
Reciprocity
We will learn how to work well with others in a group, even when they are not our
best friends. We will learn the importance of being able to work alongside others
without being distracted or distracting others. We will begin to recognise for
ourselves what situations we learn best in and what the appropriate noise level is
for different activities!
In English, we will be continuing to
develop our sentences focusing
particularly on the use of word banks
and dictionaries and finding and
using interesting and powerful words.
We will be learning to use the past
tense.
In maths, we will be consolidating our
learning about place value up to 100
or more; rounding numbers to the
nearest 10; recognizing sequences in
numbers.
We will also be sorting and
classifying 2D and 3D shapes using
ICT.
WHO DO I WANT TO BE?
Date: 5th Sept – 7th Oct
Class: Fox Talbot
Rights and Responsibilities
We will think about our rights within the
school such as being happy and safe and
being able to learn…
..and what our responsibilities are to ensure
that everyone’s rights are met. We will use
these to create our class rules.
Anti – bullying
Using issues arising in ‘Toy
Story 3’ we will be considering
possible ways to deal with
bullying.
We will write letters to the toys
to advise them what they could
do.
We will be using some stories
from The Bible to explore the
Christian belief that everyone is
unique and valuable.
OUR VALUE: - FRIENDSHIP
We will be using ‘Toy Story 3’ as a starting point for our discussions about friendship. We will
consider the characteristics of a good friend and use role play to explore this. We will write
wanted posters and recipes for good friends.
In PE we will learn to encourage and support our friends through paired work and team games.
We are going to use photographs to observe and draw ourselves carefully. We will be looking
at portraits by famous artists and considering how we would like to portray ourselves to others.
(We are going to enter our pictures into the National project ‘Face Britain’
www.facebritain.org.uk). In ICT we will be discussing how to stay safe on line and how the
people we make contact with through the internet are not always our friends.
See the outcomes of our
learning on our website
and on displays in the
hall.
