Dear All:
MAIMC Programme is housed within the Department of Media and Communication
(COM), but in collaboration with the Department of Marketing (MKT). As the partner
department, Department of Marketing provides three core and two elective courses to
MAIMC as service courses.
Due to its own financial difficulties in resources and staffing, the Department of
Marketing has notified COM of its wish to discontinue the provision of service courses to
MAIMC Programme. The Heads of the two departments have met and reached an
agreement that COM can change the codes and titles of the affected courses and continue
to teach these courses with a distinct marketing communication orientation, which fits
with the programme’s teaching and learning objectives.
In addition, COM5403 - Crisis Communication and Management is one of the COM
elective courses on the existing curriculum; however, it is the most important and popular
course (based upon the results of a survey conducted among all the students enrolled in
both MAIMC and MACNM programmes in Semester A, 2009). To respond to students’
interest and highlight the importance of crisis communication in today's world, we have
propose to make COM5403 a core subject.
These changes, once approved, will be in effect from Semester A, 2010 for all entry
cohorts.
