Secure your electrical network PACiS The Safety Solution for Healthcare Institutions Fast Secure PACiS: the solution for fault isolation and electrical network restoration in less than 500 ms 03 PACiS A Real Time System for Automatic Electrical Loop Re-configuration To ensure the continuity of supply and secure operation of electrical networks in hospitals and healthcare institutions, it is essential to be able to isolate the faulty section and safely re-energise the remaining installations. The fast response of the PACiS solution (<500 ms) goes well beyond the requirements of national standards and regulations, which typically impose a response in less than 2 seconds. The PACiS solution is fully customisable to match all electrical network topologies. Architecture The PACiS solution is based on an Ethernet IEC 61850 client-server architecture. MiCOM C264 real time Programmable Logic Controllers, inter-connected by a redundant fiber-optic network, manage the electrical network and connected equipments. MiCOM and Sepam Protection IEDs, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), fault detector Easergy T200, and gateways (GTW) will interface with your Building Management System (BMS) to complete the PACiS solution and increase the capabilities of your power system. PACiS Modular & evolutive solution Standard communication PACiS: the solution for the continuity and security of your electrical networks 05 PACiS Protection Relays and Fault Detection Detection, protection and location of electrical faults are the key points in any application. Immediate and reliable fault detection & location is ensured through the use of the instantaneous information from MiCOM and Sepam protection relays or fault detector Easergy T200 integrated in PACiS. MiCOM and Sepam relays, in addition to their protection functions, provide measurement and all monitoring information required for efficient maintenance and easy post-fault analysis. When the short-circuit power of the units does not allow the MV bay fuses to blow, the MiCOM P114S relays ensure back-up protection on the outgoing feeders, thus preventing their definitive tripping. CUSTOMER BENEFITS •Network re-energised in less than 500ms •Capability to manage up to 60 substations •Distributed automation schemes with self-adaptation to topology •HV & MV electrical standards compliant •Local generation and energy storage management •Islanding and grid reconnection management •Equipment and communication network permanent self-check PACiS 06 PACiS Components PACiS solutions are mainly based on MiCOM C264 devices interconnected via redundant fiber optical Ethernet IEC 61850 network. The MiCOM C264 is a real time PLC dedicated to the management, supervision and control of EHV, HV or MV electrical networks. MiCOM C264 is fully compatible with all IEC and ANSI electrical standards. Supervision – Simulation PC PACiS systems can be complemented with one or several supervision PCs to monitor and control the network. Simulation and test modes may complement the solution. Web Access MiCOM C264 provides web access, allowing the display of measurement and logic data using a standard PC Web navigator. Gateway Connection to the site BMS is a native feature of PACiS systems based on standard communication protocols: OPC, MODBUS, PROFIBUS. Alarm Any alarm or event impacting the site electrical network can be transferred to an operator 24/7 using GSM call messages, SMS, text or web mail PACiS MAIN FUNCTIONS •Supervision of the electrical installation •Fault location and analysis •Electrical loop network management •Transformer load shedding (optional) •Emergency generator management •Relay selectivity optimization PACiS messages. 07 PACiS Applications The electrical network elements are managed using PLC IEDs connected together with the PACiS system. PACiS manages Integrated Solutions (cubicles or cabinets with power supply), and Centralised Solutions (hardwired data or distributed communication networks). Standard PACiS system includes: •5 electrical network management modes: Normal, Back-up, Maintenance, Inhibited and Test Mode •Service restoration, islanding management and grid reconnection •Automatic adaptation to topology •Network power supply switchover: - to a second delivery substation - to a second back-up substation •Capability to use disconnectors instead of circuit breaker •Transformer load shedding – Load management - via secondary substation transformers - via network disconnectors •Compatible with any MV earthing method: Isolated / Direct / Resistance and Petersen Coil compensated •Emergency generator and energy storage management: - Start and stop - Voltage and frequency control PACiS © 2011 Schneider Electric - All rights reserved Schneider Electric 35, rue Joseph Monier CS 30323 F - 92506 Rueil Malmaison Cedex RCS Nanterre 954 503 439 Capital social 896 313 776 € www.schneider-electric.com NRJED110004EN As standards, specifications and designs change from time to time, please ask for confirmation of the information given in this publication.
